Founded in 1999, Phosphorescent Comics (PC), trading under its parent company Phosphorescent Media Pty Ltd, is currently one of Australia's leading publishers of original graphic fiction (comic books and graphic novels). Our existing range of comic books and graphic novels are sold at over 500 comics outlets throughout the world. The demand for rich, diverse content is strong and we fill the needs of content creators and readers alike by delivering high quality publications of interest to a growing audience.

Being an independent comics publisher based in Australia has given us a unique window into the world of publishing and we appreciate the generous support and feedback you have given us over the last seven years. Our Mission Statement...
Our business goals are geared towards maximising returns for creators whilst allowing the company to grow. As a birthing ground for new and innovative creative properties, we see Phosphorescent Comics as a high growth company that will expand into new areas of business. Recently, we shifted our business model away from complete in-house production and launched the Creatorline(tm) imprint; an imprint designed for publishing creator-owned properties in which we can focus more on the areas of post-production (printing, distribution, marketing and sales).

We intend to see our company develop in the field of graphic fiction, and into books, magazines and software/internet based products. With our years of industry experience, Phosphorescent Comics has learned to understand and maximize its position in the changing physical and online environment. Historically, being an Australian based comic book publisher was seen as a hindrance. We are now in an environment where it is recognised that being a comic book publisher officially based in Australia is an asset, providing a unique window into both the local Australian and international markets.

Inspired by the limitless power of human imagination, we do what we do with the aim of fostering a greater awareness, respect and enjoyment for all storytelling mediums within society at large. We do not simply target our content towards the standard comic buyer demographic. Instead, we actively seek to win over new audiences and thereby widen the future market. While each title is unique, we believe that the vast proportion of content we publish should be made for and accessible to people of all ages, both male and female. We produce content that will appeal to the business person on their lunch break and the youth on return from school. Our target market includes all people in a position to read and enjoy comics and graphic novels covering a widening variety of subjects and genres.

By 2011 we plan to have amassed a large number of proven successes in comics (print and online), books and magazines. Several key initiatives are part of our vision for the company's future. They are:

  1. Focusing on exciting, diverse creator-owned content in a range of accessible print and online forms.
  2. Adopting a proactive approach towards the formation of new creative teams.
  3. Applying workflows that are flexible (to assist creators in realising projects) and standardised (to ensure projects run efficiently).
  4. Developing markets for the content we publish at home and globally.
  5. Engaging in new partnerships with government and other businesses.
  6. Fostering a culture of excellence by creating effective new management roles to cover high-growth areas of business.
